Elizabeth Smith’s work was completed on October 22nd, 1850, most likely in England. With such a common name nothing could be found about the stitcher, but her work tells us she was a beginner needleworker who added many creatively placed stitches which adds to the charm. This simple and colorful sampler is neatly proportioned with rows of alphabets and numbers. A lovely floral band is in the center with a unique basket and spray of flowers below the verse which reads:
